We started the day at the Santa Monica Pier, with a healthy amount of group pictures. As expected today we went through a lot of urban and suburban roads in LA and San Bernardino counties. Someone counted over 300 traffic lights in 2001 when I did this tour for the first time. In addition, it was over 90 most of the day except the first 2 hours of the ride. The high was over 95! Traffic, urban riding and heat are not a good combination. But we made it to live another day.
We stopped for breakfast at Russell’s diner in Pasadena…
Tomorrow is a lot more climbing than today when we go over the San Bernadino mountians and the heat wave is expected to extend into the week.
2x2x2 anyone?
